The Story of the Pawley's Island Gray Man.
Once upon a time before the American civil war there was a happy couple that lived on Pawley's Island, SC.
When one day the man went to fight in the Civil War and left the woman waiting for his return.
Years past with no word from the man and people assumed that he had been killed. The woman went into a deep depression.
One day as the woman was walking on the beach she saw her former lover standing on the beach dressed in all gray. When she tried to run to him she realized he only got further away.
Finally when the woman stopped running the gray man lifted his arm pointing toward land and then disappeared.
When the woman got home and told her family what she had seen they took her inland to receive psychological help.
However, as soon as the family got inland a hug storm hit the island and devastated its inhabitants.
To this day the gray man can be seen walking the beaches of Pawley's island warning visitors to flee before a big storm hits.
