Role Playing

  • A way of studying values.
  • It begins with problem situations.
  • It explores how values drive behavior.

Direct effects

  • Students develop a greater understanding about how people interact (empathy).
  • Students develop strategies for resolving conflicts based on respect.

RP deals w/ personal and social dimensions of education.

Benefits of using RP in the classroom:

1. Students can explore their feelings.

2. Students can gain insight into their own attitudes, values, and perceptions.

3. Students can develop their problem-solving skills and attitudes.

  • Describe some measures that could have been taken (during the role play) to curtail the problem?
  • Overall, explain why role play is an effective model for learning about and empathizing with cultural, social, and personal differences.
