The taiga biome is the largest terrestrial biome and extends across Europe, North America and Asia. It’s located below the Tundra biome, the Taiga biome is also known as coniferous forest or boreal forest. This biome typically has short, wet summers and long, cold winters.
Most animals migrate to warmer climates once the cold weather begins, some animals have adapted to live in the Taiga by hibernating when temperatures drop. Other animals have adapted to the extreme cold temperatures by producing a layer of insulating feathers or fur to protect them from the cold
The trees in the Taiga biome are mainly Spruce, Pine and fir. The plants adapt to harsh weather in this environment, like icy and snowy winters. For example the needles of the pine are very smooth to help keep water inside the dark casing.
