Level 1

Significantly Below Expectations

What Level 1 looks like:

  • A disorganized and uninviting classroom
  • Teacher who is authoritarian and negative 
  • Students who are often off-task or bored
  • A lack of student work in the room
  • Low teacher expectations

Level 2

At Expectations

What LEvel 2 looks like:

  • Students are encouraged to learn from mistakes
  • Established rules for learning and behavior
  • A welcoming classroom for members and guests
  • Student work displayed on walls
  • Respect for the teacher and between students

Level 3

Significantly Above Expectations

What Level 3 looks like:

  • Rigorous expectations for students
  • Classroom is arranged to promote learning/is accessible
  • Consistently well-behaved students
  • Positive relationships characterize the classroom
  • Student work is displayed and frequently changes
