THE TEMPERATE FOREST MAP

BIOTIC FACTORS: WILDFLOWER PLANTS

  • a lot of sunlight to make a lot of food for the tree in warm weather
  • Small leaves reduce the effects of solar radiation and water loss.
  • For adaption when the weather gets cooler, the broad leaves cause too much water loss and can be weighed down by too much snow, so the tree drops its leaves.

  • Their primary prey is deer, but they also eat porcupines, raccoons, birds, small mammals, foxes, mice, and grass.
  • Animals in deciduous forests have to adapt to changing seasons. Some animals hibernate or migrate during the winter to escape the cold. Others grow thick fur and/or layers of fat to help make it through the winter months.
