APRIL 6 1830
The Mexican government banned all American immigration to Texas
The government was concerned about the Americans having too much influence on the Texans
But that did not stop the Americans, and by 1836 there were around 35,000 Americans living there.

The Mexican government rejects the Texas constitution
Texans were unhappy with the Mexican laws
They wrote a list of changes they wanted made, but it was rejected
So they wrote their own constitution.

OCT 2 1835
The first shots of the revolution are fired
Mexican soldiers were sent to Gonzales Texas
They had a canon that was meant to scare away Native Americans
The Texans wouldn't let them over the border
The Texans fired at the Mexican soldiers.

MARCH 1836
The Texans declare their independence from Mexico
At a convention in 1836, the Texans wrote a Declaration of Independence
They also wrote the constitution of the Republic Of Texas
Sam Houston was named the commander of the Texas military

MARCH 6 1836
The Texans lose the battle of the Alamo
After a 13 day attack on the Alamo mission, Mexican soldiers killed all 189 Texans trying to defend it

MAY 14 1836
The treaties of Velasco are signed, officially giving Texas it's independence
General Santa Anna and the Republic of Texas sign the Velasco treaties, ending the revolution
The Mexican government said that Santa Anna had no right to sign the treaties
The Mexican government never actually ended up agreeing to them.

OCT 22 1836
The president of the Republic of Texas is named
Sam Houston of Virginia becomes the first president of Texas
after it had won its independence from Mexico
He later became the governor of Texas, after it had become part of the U.S.A.

DEC 29 1845
Texas becomes part of the United States
The U.S.A adds Texas as it's 28th state
Texas is the only U.S.A state that was its own nation before becoming part of the U.S.A.

APRIL 25 1846
The Mexican-American war begins
Mexican oldies attack the U.S troops in between Rio Grande and Nueces river
Both countries had been fighting over ownership of the river at that time
That's what started the Mexican-American war
The war ended n Mexico's defeat and America's Gaining 500,000 acres of Mexican land.

FEBRUARY 2 1848
The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ends the Mexican-American war
After America defeated Mexico, Mexico officially recognizes that Texas is free from their rule
And that Texas is a part of the U.S.A.
