REsolution

  • Celaena is poisoned just moments before facing off with Cain, who has been using the demons he summoned in order to steal the strength of other contestants. Celaena is suddenly rescued when Nehemia manages to summon Queen Elena to the assassin's side. The spirit quickly rids Celaena of the poison and takes Cain strength away, and Caelana emerges victorious as King's Champion.

narration

  • The story is mainly told through Celaena in Third Person-Omniscient, but is also told through the eyes of Dorian and Chaol also using Third Person-Omniscient. It is also told in Personal Narration since all of them are characters in the story.

Theme

  • Celaena desires freedom above all else. The King is seen as the embodiment of tyranny, and has used military force and magic to dominate most of the world. The characters desire freedom in many ways. Nehemia desires her homeland to be free from the king's rule, Dorian wishes to be free in whom he chooses to marry, and Celaena herself has never known what it is like to be free.

Reflection

  • I thought that this book was very good. I really enjoyed how the characters were portrayed and the conflicts that mainly, Celaena had to go through in order to work towards winning her freedom. As well as the relationships she built on the way, such as Dorian and Chaol.

Reflection

  • I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys either the supernatural/magic sort or for those who enjoy action with slight romance in the beginning. This book incorporates all of these themes really well and was enjoyable to read.
