ALICE CATHERINE CLEAVER

  • Her birthday is July 5th, 1889
  • She was 22 years old at the time of the crash
  • She was in first class acting as a nursemaid for The Allison family
  • When the ship started to sink, she climbed into lifeboat 11 with baby Trevor
  • She was in the boat with the maids, Sarah Daniels and Mildred Brown

ALICE CATHERINE CLEAVER

  • When they arrived in New York, they avoided reporters by saying her name was Jean
  • The maids, Trevor and Alice where they only people of their party who survived.
  • Alice Cleaver died on November 1st, 1984 in Winchester

TIMELINE

  • April 14, (9am): The Titanic receives first messages of icebergs
  • April 15, (12:15am): The Titanic sends out first distress call
  • April 15, (12:45am): The first distress rocket is fired
  • April 15, (1:40am): The last distress rocket is fired
  • April 15, (2:17am): The last wireless distress call is transmitted.

TIMELINE

  • April 15, (2:18am): The lights go out and the passengers hear and enormous crash.
  • April 15, (2:18am): Engines and furnitures spill out into the ocean

FACTORS

LESS LIFEBOATS

  • Instead of 48 lifeboats, there were 16
  • If there 48 lifeboats, everybody could have survived
  • Because they wanted the Titanic to look fancy, they were short 32

CHANGING COURSE

  • The captain changed course because of icebergs
  • He thought he was taking them away from the icebergs
  • He was actually taking the head-on with the icebergs

IGNORING MESSAGES

  • The Titanic ignored messages from the Californian
  • He got frustrated and sent a rude message
  • They turned off their wireless system for the night
