THE TOP 3 REASONS ROME FELL

ANDREW LINDBERG 2ND PERIOD

#3 THE PLAGUE

  • The plague, in my opinion, was the beginning of the downfall of Rome.
  • It killed off possible soldiers.
  • Weakened their army which made them easier to invade.
  • This also reduced the labor force of Rome killing many laborers.
  • Killed up to 2,000 people a day.

#2 INVASIONS

  • Wars and skirmishes costed money.
  • Invasions weakened the Roman Empire.
  • These invasions created a weaker economy in Rome.
  • The plague also made them more vulnerable at the time.
  • Soldiers were loyal to their military leaders more than their emperors.

#1 LEADERSHIP

  • There was never good leadership after Marcus Aurelius.
  • The Roman Empire split into 2 parts weakened the Roman Empire.
  • There were 22 leaders who were all murdered.
  • People were frustrated.
  • As we have learned this year, poor leadership leads to the fall of an empire.
