In all of Poe's life he was basically alone. The women he loved died which made him depressed. The men in his life weren't as supportive. As he grew up he didn't live like other children who were happy and creative. Your parents have a big impact on you as a person. As your grow up you need that boost to get you through the hard times in life. With Poe, his family wasn't supportive. So in his mind it was always so dark and creepy and sad. Obviously you can see that his life impacted his poems because they were so creepy and had a dark feeling to the person reading his poems. But they became popular today.
