It all started with a friend request from Josh Evans. Megan accepted the friend request because she thought that he was really cute. She showed her mom the friend request, and her mom said it was "OK" cause he looked like a nice young man. The relationship started really good, then things started to get bad.

Josh started making rumors about Megan, saying how she was a horrible person, and that the world will be better with out her. Megan had started to get comments on her pictures that she will post, people will say things like how she is ugly, fat and a "slut"!!!.

Fifteen minutes later Megan called her mother (Tina) down stairs were the computer was, and showed her the comments people were posting. By now Megan was in tears. Megan mother was furious at her, because she had already told her to sign of Myspace and she didn't. So they started arguing and things didn't end up to good, Megan and her mother both said something's to each other that they were both going to regret............

After Megan and her mom were done Arguing, Megan had ran up to her room. And before she even got half way up the stairs, her father (Ron) had stopped her and asked her what was wrong. Megan had told her father that kids were saying horrible stuff about her, and that she didn't know why. Megan father told her that it was going to be "OK", and that they obviously don't know her so it will be fine.

Megan had went up to her room, and her father had went back down stairs to the kitchen were him and Megan's mother had talked about what just happened. Just a few minutes later Tina recalls the moment she had a god-awful feeling about Megan, so she rushes up the stairs to Megan's room and finds her hung in her closet.........

Sadly Megan Meier died the next day, three weeks before her fourteenth birthday. Six weeks after Megan died, on a Saturday morning. A neighbor from down the street a single mother, that had a daughter the same age as Megan. They had Informed the Meier's that Josh Evans never existed. The single mother told them that Josh Evans was created by adults, a family on their block. These adults she had told the Meier's, were the parents of Megan's ex- friend.

The neighbor also told the Meier's that her daughter who had carpooled with the family, that was involved in creating the phony MySpace account. Had the password to Josh Evans account, and had sent one message to Megan the night before she took her life. She also said her daughter feels the guilt of not saying something sooner, and for writing that message. Her daughter didn't say anything sooner because she had new the family for years, and thought what they where doing must had been ok, cause they where trusted adults.

On the night the ambulance came for Megan, before it left the Meier's house, the neighbor daughter received a call. It was the woman behind the Josh Evans account. She called the girl to tell her that something bad has happened to Megan, and advised the girl not to mention the MySpace account. According to Megan's mother, Megan had taken vacations with the family. And they knew she struggled with depression, and took medication. They wanted to get Megan to feel like a boy liked her, and let everybody know that was a false MySpace account and have everyone laugh at her.

Unfortunately no charges where filled against the family or any participant in the Josh Evans hoax, partly because their where no laws drafted to criminalize these types of behavior. The Meier's do not plan to file a lawsuit, but they do want the law to change, and the state or even federal so that the Megan Meier story will never be repeated. The Meier's have taken upon themselves, to educate teens and youth about bullying and cyber bullying. They created the Megan Meier foundation, to share Megan's story an to say a essential message.
