🌏WHY IS RECYCLING IMPORTANT 🌎

  • Do you ever consider recycling instead of throwing it on the ground? If not then here are some reasons why younshould recycle.
  • An Average person generates over 4 pounds of trash every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste per year.
  • Over 75% of waste is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it.
  • Americans throw away 25,000,000 plastic bottles every hour.
  • If Every American recycled just one-tenth of their newspapers, we could save about 25 million trees each year.

  • The average American discards 4 1/2 pounds of garbage every day.
  • Americans generate 251.3 million tons of garbage per year.
  • 1. 9 billion tons of litter ends up in the ocean every year.
  • $11.5 billion is spent every year to clean up litter.

🌏OUR PROJECT🌎

PICKING UP AT THE PARK

Although it might not seem like much. Braden, Lili and I went to Branch Hollow Park near my house and cleaned up the trash in the the creek. We cleaned for about an hour or more. We took two trash bags, one for recycling and one for trash. Lili held the recycling bag and Braden held the trash bag, while I picked up the garbage. To our surprise the recycling bag filled to the top while the trash bag wasn't even half way full. We found a lot of water bottles still full with water.
I got the idea to do this project because I remember walking my dogs at the park and noticed all the trash. I don't understand who would want to play at a dirty playground. People should go around and pick up at least one piece of trash they see. Throwing away one piece of trash can change the world, and would only take a second. So why not take time out of your life to make your life better? I know the next time I walk by some trash I'm going to pick it up and throw it away. Because today you can change your ways.
