He knows who he is.....
He is not confused about the true nature of people
(Illus. We see this very clearly as we walk through the gospel of John on Wednesday night.)
He knows why he is on earth
He is not threatned by the competition
Emporer worship
He is standing in the center worship of other gods
And deliberately asking his small group who THEY think Jesus is......
Jesus knows his identity...the "Son of Man"
and also knows that a small group context is a great place to ask if others know his identity.
