When and Why

  • Passed on July 6, 1965
  • Ratified on February 11,1967
  • Franklin Roosevelt was on fourth term
  • Afraid that he wouldn't serve for much longer

Advantages

  • Always a president in office
  • Keeps America running smoothly
  • Never have to worry about not having a president

WHEN ITS BEEN USED

  • When JFK was assassinated
  • Gerald Ford elected Richard Nixon as VP
  • Nixon became President when Ford resigned
  • Ford elected a new VP
  • VP H.W. Bush became President when Reagan had cancer surgery

HOW IT AFFECTS US TODAY

  • Same way it has since it was ratified
  • Not effecting us everyday, but still important
  • No current debates on the Twenty-Fifth Amendment
