PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The UFT Delegate Assembly
The Assembly takes place at 52 Broadway (usually on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.) Chapter leaders and delegates are mailed DA cards they fill out and submit for entrance. Those cards are exchanged for colored voting cards. Many leaflets are handed out at the door by different groups.
Main assembly takes place at the 2nd floor auditorium, but due to space limitations additional seating with microphones and projector screens are set up on the 19th floor.
With retiree representatives, representatives from borough offices and approximately 2 reps per school (at 1,800 schools), the DA should have over 3,700 attendees. However, many do not show. When they do for big decisions, like contract votes, the NY Hilton is used.
There are 5 seating sections in the main hall. Members usually congregate by district or caucus.
What takes place
- President Mulgrew gives his report
- Question period where Mulgrew calls on 3-4 members.

Voting:
When it comes time for a vote, for a resolution or other matter, the UFT President calls for all those in favor, then all those against, and finally all those who abstain. The lifting of cards are used to vote.
