PRESENTATION OUTLINE
For the word of the cross is folly to this who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God...has God not made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom - it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to the Jews and folly to the Greeks, but to those who are called...'Christ' - the power of God and the wisdom of God.
- 1 Corinthians -
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth'. But I say to you , do not resist the one who is evil. BUT if anyone slaps you on the right cheek turn to him the other also.
And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.
And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
Not many people are wise according to worldly standards, not many are powerful, not many are of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are...and because of him (Jesus) you are in Christ Jesus who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
- 1 Corinthians 1 -
For I decided to know nothing amongst you other than Jesus Christ and him "crucified"...that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
- 1 Corinthians 2 -
Whether it be:
- People's authority trip
- The law of the land
- The social stigma
...for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose...to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that we might be the first born among many brothers.
- Romans 8 -
