SUMMARY OF PLOT

  • Daniel is a prisoner in Auschwitz but was once a violin maker though he calls himself a carpenter.
  • He defends a musician that made a mistake playing the violin , Bronislaw.
  • This leads him to be challenged by the Commander to make a better violin within a certain number of days.
  • If Daniel fails, he will be sent to the camp torturer and most likely die.

RECOMMENDATION

  • I would recommend this book.
  • It has a lot of mystery and tension because you wonder if Daniel will succeed or fail and be tortured.
  • It includes real documents in the beginning of the book that were written by Nazis.
  • It doesn't have a predictable ending so it pulls you in. You wonder what will happen.
