What is The Water Cycle?

  • The Water Cycle is the process of how water moves in the atmosphere in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
  • The water cycle is continous and will never end.
  • There are 4 steps to The Water Cycle: Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation, and Runoff.

Evaporation

  • Evaporation is when gas from lakes, oceans, and etc. goes to the clouds.
  • The water has to heat up for it to rise to the clouds.
  • The gas that goes up is called Water Vapor.

Condensation

  • Condensation is when water vapor turns into a liquid.
  • The temperature is cold when it condenses in the clouds. That makes the water fall down.
  • When it falls down it creates precipitation.

Precipitation

  • Precipitation is when rain, snow, sleet, or hail falls down to the earth.
  • Snow is created when the temperature in the clouds gets too cold.
  • Precipitation happens when the water droplets conjoin together in clouds until it gets heavy enough and pours down.

Runoff

  • Runoff is when the rain or snow flows through the ground back into streams, oceans, lakes, etc.

Why is The Water Cycle important?

  • The Water Cycle is important because without it we wouldn't have rain.
  • If it didn't rain we wouldn't have water, plants may die, or all the fish would die.
  • If it didn't rain we wouldn't have any water on our whole entire planet.

FUN FACTS!! YAY!!!

  • Transpiration is the process of how plants sweat.
