The Water Cycle
Four Simple Steps

2.
Step1: Evaporation
Heat from the Sun causes water on Earth (in oceans, lakes, rivers) to evaporate (turn from a liquid to a gas) and rise into the sky.
The water vapor collects in the sky in the form of clouds.
3.
Step 2: Condensation
Water vapor in the clouds cools down and it becomes water again during this process.
4.
Step 3: Precipitation
Water falls from the sky in the form of rain, snow, hail, or sleet.
5.
Step 4: Collection
Oceans and lakes collect water that has fallen.
Water evaporates into the sky again and the cycle continues.
