PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF CELLS

ANIMAL CELLS

  • Has seven basic parts
  • Nucleus,Centrioles,Vacuoles,Mitochondria,Cell membrane,Cytoplasm,DNA
  • Not all animal cells are the same shape, size, or color
  • Every organelle has a special function

NUCLEUS

  • Controls all cell activity
  • Has a nucleolus inside
  • Easy way to remember it is to think of it as a brain
  • Also found in plant cells
  • The function is the same in both cells

CENTRIOLES

  • It organizes the cell
  • Not found in plant cells
  • Centrioles' function is cell division

VACUOLE

  • Also thought of as a vacuum
  • It's stores water and waste until needed by the cell
  • The animal cell has two
  • The plant cell has one giant one
  • The function is the same in both cells

MITOCHONDRIA

  • Energy source of the cell
  • Also found in plant cells
  • The function is the sane in both cells

DNA

  • Found inside the nucleus
  • DNA is a genetic material, an inherited blue print that stores the intructions for making the other parts of the cell and for producing new cells.
  • Found in plant cells
  • Controls function of the cell
  • The function is the same in both cells

CELL MEMBRANE

  • The cell membrane is a thin semi-permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell.
  • Its function is to protect the integrity of the interior of the cell
  • by allowing certain substances into the cell, while keeping other substances out.
  • Same function in each cell

PLANT CELLS

  • Have eight main parts
  • Nucleus,Vacuole,mitochondria,Cytoplasm
  • Chloroplast,Cell wall,Cell membrane,DNA
  • Some are organelles are found in animals cells

CHLOROPLAST

  • Gives plants their green color
  • There also the food producers of the cell
  • Uses the sunlight s energy to produce food for the cell

CELL WALL

  • Not found in animal cells
  • It maintains the shape of the cell
  • It provides structural strength to the plant

OSMOSIS

  • a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane

DIFFUSION

  • diffusion helps in transport of foods , water, waste in or out of the cell
  • also helps to maintain the osmotic pressure of the cell by osmosis
  • Diffusion is the tendency of molecules to spread into an available space
  • Diffusion is a spontaneous movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
