RELIGION

(N.) A SET OF BELIEFS CONCERNING THE CAUSE, NATURE, AND PURPOSE OF LIFE
This picture shows multiple religions, yet they all share a common theme of trying to explain our existence in this universe.

ADHERENT

(N.) A PERSON WHO FOLLOWS A CAUSE; SUPPORTER
All of the adherents in the photograph are supporters of the Civil Rights Movement. They are following leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr.

TENET/BELIEF

(N.) AN OPINION, PRINCLIPLE/(N.) CONFIDENCE IN THE TRUTH OR EXISTANCE OF SOMETHING
Each religion and culture has is own beliefs. This is why the Greek creation myth (picutred) is different from a Native American creation myth.

MONOTHEISM

(N.) THE BELIEF THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD
I chose this picture to show that monotheistic religions believe in only one God.

POLYTHEISM

(N.) THE BELIEF IN MORE THAN ONE GOD
The polytheistic Ancient Egyptians believed in multiple gods and goddesses.

ATHEISM

(N.) THE BELIEF THAT THERE IS NO GOD
This picture shows what an atheist might think about God.

AGNOSTICISM

(N.) NEITHER THE BELEIF OR DISBELIEF IN GOD
This picture shows a scale of how people feel about God. However, agnostics are not sure of God's existence, so they do not fall on the line.

THEISM

(N.) THE BELIEF THAT ONE GOD OR MANY GODS EXSIST
People who believe in either one or many gods often make sacrifices or offerings to them.
