Thematic Statement:
Even in the worst situations, it's possible to make things work, and help others along the way. This shows the theme of the book, because the main character, Connor, goes through a lot of problems in his life, and he still helped others and made a difference. At the end of the story when Connor, Risa, and the other unwinds start taking care of the graveyard, they save the lives of countless unwinds. Even when things seemed hopeless, the unwinds still worked hard, survived, and saved lives along the way. For example, when Connor grabbed the baby from the doorstep, he saved it from being possibly sent to a state home, being unwound in the future, or having a bad family.
