APPROACHING & LIVING THE SACRAMENT

  • The responses of the assembly are usually very short
  • Amen is the most common, but most important.
  • It is rude to ignore the invitations of the liturgy
  • Just like Saint John said "If you want love, put love,& you will find love"
  • It is the same with the Eucharist, if you want enthusiasm, then give it.

VIATICUM&EUCHARIST

  • The eucharist makes the church
  • Through our participation,we are united more closely to christ
  • The eucharist fulfills our baptismal call
  • We are called to pray for the full unity of all those who believe & baptised
  • Viaticum-The eucharist as given to a person near or in dangerof death

  • People who are about to leave this life the eucharist as viaticum
  • You are aloud to receive the eucharist twice a day
  • You attend your two separate celebrations of the holy mass in one day
  • You attend a reg mass& then a funeral in the same day that offers the eucharist

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING VAN RECEPTION

  • The Eucharist is our lifeline to Christ
  • Frequent reception of Christ is recommended by the church
  • Every catholic is obliged to recieve the Eucharist at least once during the Easter season
  • Some early spiritual writers believed that the petition of Jesus in the Lord's Prayer"give us this day, our daily bread" referred to not only the bread that supposed sustain us, but also the holy Eucharist
  • The Eucharist encompasses our entire life of faith

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING VAN Reception

  • In order to receive communion the recipient must be in a state of grace thus free from from grave, this means that the recipient must be free from mortal sin which is forgiven in penance/ reconciliation
  • In addition to receiving communion, we fast before hand, this reminds us that the Eucharist is not ordinary food and drink
  • We also must fast against anything that would be unworthy of a follower of Christ. It's also recommended that you dress up for church.

REFLECTIVE PRAYER ON MEANING OF JESUS

  • Through christ the church can offer the sarifice of praise in thanksgiving
  • The eucharist is a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the father
  • The church expresses her gratitude to God for all his benefits
  • The Eucharist is also the sacrifice of praise by which the church sings glory of god
  • He unites the faithful to his person, to his praise, and to his intercession
