My Opinion of the Book

Things Fall Apart shows a culture that really opens my eyes to different parts of the world. Sometimes I forgot that not everyone lives like how I live. Things Fall Apart had lots of emotional twists and turns which I think made it an interesting read. I recommend this book to others, as it has so many parts where it is hard to put the book down.

Chinua Achebe Cultural Backround

Chinua Achebe was an African Author who was born on November 16, 1930 and died on March 21, 2013. He was born in Ogidi, Nigeria. He was apart of the lgbo people of Nigeria. He lived in a small village in Africa, which is very different from how people in the United States live today.

Why Is It Important to Learn About Other Cultures?

If you only learn about the culture you live in today, you would have no idea what goes on in the rest of the world. I learned in the book Things Fall Apart that I live a much different life than people in Nigeria do. It’s fascinating how ldistinct a culture can be from another one. If someone doesn’t learn about other cultures they won’t develop any sympathy for those who live differently than them. People will be unaware of others lack of recourses.
