Things to Remember

As You Think About Your Learning Path

A Learning Path consists of Modules, Lessons, and Assets

The modules, lessons and assets can be organized in one of two ways:

- Module, Lesson, Asset
- Module, Asset

Modules and lessons are structural elements.

Module and lesson pages are not designed for content beyond basic text and graphics.

Modules do not necessarily have lessons.

It depends upon what makes the most sense from an instructional perspective.

All lessons must have assets.

Keep in mind that if you don't have a "Lesson 2" in a Module, don't create a "Lesson 1." Just place the assets directly under the Module.

Assets can be designated as either optional or required.

All assets must be assigned "seat time."

This seat time will be added up to determine total completion time of the course. Total seat time will not be a reflection of the actual time a participant spends in the course, but rather the time allotted for each asset within the platform. This allotted time is based on the time you (the creator of the Learning Path) have chosen for each asset. Assets that are designated as optional do not count toward seat time.

Every Learning Path page must have a title.

Try to keep titles to six words or less. Be consistent with the format of your titles and the punctuation that is used. For example: Module 1: [Title] or Module 1 - [Title]. (colon vs. dash)

You are limited only by your imagination!

A Learning Path is limited only by the scope of your imagination: It can be as long as you wish, contain as many or as few elements as you wish, and cover any topic you wish to have participants explore.
