Petroglyphs And Their Meanings

Each and every petroglyph has its own symbolic meaning.

The meaning of these symbols, however, is unknown to people today.

Some people would believe that this petroglyph would symbolize many goats.

While others think it is simply a work of art.

Some are carved instead of painted like this one.

But the way they are made does not change their meanings.

Petroglyphs are mainly known as symbols, but their meanings may vary.

Some petroglyphs meanings still remain mysteries today.

Petroglyphs originated from Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Hieroglyphs are more than 3,500 years old. Petroglyphs are about 500 years younger.

If you think petroglyphs actually mean something,

You would most likely believe that petroglyphs were ways to symbolize danger and many other things.

" But how," you probably wonder, " Does this person predict what petroglyphs mean?"

People depend on mostly what they know...

...so the mysterious meanings of petroglyphs may never be known to us.

But we still can try to define them... What's that? You want some examples? Here we go then...

Petroglyphs can symbolize people, animals, or things.

"It depends on what they look like," you might be thinking.

Your answer isn't entirely wrong, but it's not entirely right, either.

Petroglyphs can symbolize things beyond your wildest dreams, so they won't always be defined by looks.

Do you see what I mean when I say humans only depend on what they know?

Petroglyphs can symbolize all of the following:

  • Animals
  • Humans
  • Warnings/danger
  • Stories
  • Maps

This petroglyph, as I said before, could symbolize a map of some sort.

Maybe in a few decades people could learn the ways of our ancestors, who created petroglyphs.

Who knows? Maybe they will take centuries, even millennia, to translate.
