NEW ENGLAND

  • New England had a government that had a democracy. All laws were based on religion.
  • Although It was based on democracy many people got to it in many ways.
  • John Winthrop governed the colony, he was a English Puritan who hated democracy.
  • His hatred for democracy drove other people away from the colony to start colony's with democracy.
  • William Penn loved democracy so he let his people vote.

NEW ENGLAND(2)

  • Anne Hutchinson was a woman at the Massachusetts bay colony .
  • She question religion and was the first woman and person to question religion.
  • She was a amazing person who was a good person. She questioned society.
  • She was banned from the colony, and John Winthrop did not like that.

RHODE ISLAND

  • Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams.
  • He believed that people should not live under the rules that John Winthrop had.
  • He also believed that you should have religious freedom.

NEW ENGLAND (3)

  • There was Squanto who was a ambassador, translator, and a technical advisor.
  • He was kidnapped as a child and new his native language.
  • When he was taken to England and taught English.
  • He showed the pilgrims where to plant corn and catch fish.

  • William saw Pennsylvania as a holy experiment and loved democracy.
  • He took his Quaker ideas and put it in to Pennsylvania.
  • He also put and idea of pacifism into Pennsylvania.
  • He gave the right to vote unlike John Winthrop that hated it a lot.
  • He drove people away and they wanted democracy.

SOTHERN

  • John Winthrop was key for survival for the Jamestown colony.
  • John Winthrop had a very good relationship with the natives.
  • He made them work to find resources.
  • He impacted the colonies a lot.
  • Without him they struggled.

SOUTHERN

  • John Rolfe was the man that lead to Jamestown success.
  • He somehow got the seeds that lead to the economic growth.
  • The fertile soil let them plant these seeds.
  • Nathaniel bacon was also a main part in Jamestown.

SOUTHERN

  • Nathaniel bacon(not related to Kevin bacon) led his rebellion.
  • It was a rebellion against the way slaves, indentured servants were treated.
  • Unfortunately It was unsuccessful a against the ruling class (rich).
