CHILDHOOD

  • Thomas Jefferson was born on 13 April 1743 in Virginia
  • He had 7 siblings
  • Peter Jefferson and Jane Randolph were his parents.
  • His father was a ships captain and planter.

EDUCATION

  • He began school in 1752, at the age of 9.
  • He learned Latin, Greek and French.
  • He enrolled at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg.
  • There he studied mathematics, metaphysics, and philosophy.
  • He graduated with supreme honors in 1762, And also studied law after.

IMPACT HE MADE

  • Jefferson was a delegate to the Second Continental Congress
  • He helped prepare the declaration of the independence
  • In 1776 Jefferson was elected to the new Virginia House of Delegates.
  • Later, Jefferson became the governor of Virginia.

CLAIM TO FAME

  • The Declaration of Independence being approved
  • He was the governer of Virginia.
  • He was the first Secretary of State in 1790.
  • And Later he became the Vice President in 1797.
