• Jacob Lansa is a 13 year old boy
• He is traveling to Africa to find his father
• He doesn't want to go to Nebraska, and thats why he is going
• He meets Supeet and finds a true friendship.

SUPEET

• Supeet is a wise Masai in Africa
• He meets Jacob and helps him through his journey
• Supeet learns how to make it rain in Africa.
• When Jacob leaves Africa, Supeet stays.
• Supeet stays so he can help it to rain everywhere.

DR.LANSA

• Dr.Lansa is a field biologist trying to help the elephants
• He is facing the poachers, who want the elephant tusks
• When he discovers that Jacob is there, they work together to stop the poachers.
• He is a very determined man.

DONOVAN

• Donovan is an evil man who tricked Jacob
• He is a poacher, but posed as a normal American in Africa
• He was listening to Dr.Lansa's every conversation.
• He did this so he could track down the elephants.

SETTING

BOOK SUMMARY

• Jacob lives in New York but his mother dies in an accident.
• He is about to go to Nebraska, but sneaks into Africa instead to find his father.
• Along the way, he finds himself in some trouble. He gets beat up in the city
• He meets one of his biggest teachers, Supeet, and learns much from him.
• Jacob finds his father and they saved the drought and the elephants from the poachers

TAW

• Taw was Jacob's Grandpa
• He lived in New York in a retirement home.
• He was very wise, but also made no sense.
• He predicted Jacob's future, and gave him a Katchina doll

KENYA

• Kenya is where the story takes place
• It is a country in africa with exotic animals and plants
• This is where Jacob went to find his father
• And where he met his good friend, Supeet.

NEW YORK

• This is where the story starts
• New York is a state in the United States
• It includes large buildings and parks
• It is where Jacob lives, and Taw too.
• After the book ends, Jabob and his father go back to New York
