2.
WHAT IS A THUNDERSTORM
A THUNDER STORM IS AN INTENSE LOCAL STORM THAT FORMS
Strong winds, Heavy rain, lightning and Thunder
3.
HOW DOES A THUNDERSTORM FORM
Thunderstorms are formed by the uplifting of warm and humid air
When humid air is lifted, it will cool and the moisture in the air will condense to form clouds
Water droplets in the cloud continue to grow
A cumulonimbus cloud results when it grows to a height of 6 to 12 miles
Thunderstorms are produced by cumulonimbus clouds.
4.
WHY THUNDERSTORMS ARE DANGEROUS
Thunderstorms are dangerous because they produce lightning, which can kill or injure people
Lightning can knock over trees which can fall on houses, cars, power lines and people
When you hear thunder you are in danger of lightning
Lightning is an electrical current so try to stay indoors during a thunderstorm
