WHAT IS A BIOME?

  • A biome is one of Earths large ecosystems.
  • A biome also has it's own kind of climate, soil, plants, and animals.

WHAT ANIMALS/PLANTS LIVE IN THE TAIGA?

  • Rodents, snowshoe hares, lynx, sables, ermine, caribou, bears, wolves, birds in summer
  • The trees in the Taiga are mainly spruce, pine, and fir.

What is the climate like in a taiga?

  • The taiga climate is for the most part dominated by cold arctic air.
  • It is either hot and humid or cold and snowy.

WHAT MAKES THE TAIGA UNIQUE?

  • Some animals have structural adaptations that help them survive in the taiga.
  • They tend to be found in places of higher elevation, or in an area containing a generally cooler climate wether due to altitude or latitude.

WHY SHOULD PEOPLE VISIT A TAIGA?

  • It has cool animals.
  • It's good for people who like the cold.
  • Its susceptible to many wildfires.
  • The weather is great.
