TIDES

BY:ELLA, GAVIN,PAIGE AND PEDRO

WHAT CAUSES TIDES
Tides are caused by differences in the gravitational force of the sun and moon across the earth 🌏

How often tides occur and how tidal levels vary depends on the position of the moon and as it revolves around earth. the gravity of the moon pulls on every particle on earth. but because liquids move more easily than solids do the pull on liquids is much more noticeable than the pull on solids. the moons gravitational pull on earth decreases with the moons distance from earth 🌏

The part of the earth facing the moon is pulled towards the moon with the greatest force. water on that side of earth bulges towards the moon. the solid earth is pulled more strongly towards the moon than the ocean water on earth's far side is. so there's also a bulge of water on the side of earth farthest from the moon 🌙

WHAT ARE HIGH AND LOW TIDES
The bulges that form in earths ocean are called high tides. Low tides form in the area between the height tides.

WHAT IS A TIDAL RANGE A tidal range is the difference between the levels of ocean water at high tide and low tide.

WHAT ARE SPRING TIDES
Spring tides happen when the sun, moon, and earth for my straight line.
