24 time zones on the earth, 1 hour difference between each zone

Each place in that time zone has the same time, referred to as Standard Time

When you go east, you add time to the clock.

When you go west, you subtract time from the clock.

Time zones East of the Prime Meridian are ahead, West is behind

  • Pacific
  • Mountain
  • Central
  • Eastern
  • Atlantic
  • Newfoundland (+30 min)

International Date Line is “opposite” the prime meridian
Crossing the line moves the clock back/forward 1 hour, but changes the calendar day
