  • Constantinople has new leader to occupy the city.
  • New architecture is built.
  • New laws are made.

570 A.D-MUHAMMAD WAS BORN.

  • Muhammad displayed impressive leadership skills in Medina.
  • He joined his own people with Arabs and Jews of Medina as a single community.
  • Was accepted as a political leader.
  • Was a religious leader.
  • Became a military leader in the hostilities between Mecca and Medina.

671 A.D-GREEK FIRE WAS INVENTED.

  • Byzantines used these for native battles.
  • Could continue burning while floating on water.
  • Used commonly.
  • Made battles easier chance to win.

661 A.D- ALI WAS ASSASINTED.

  • Umayyads came to power.
  • Muslim capital was moved to Damascus.
  • Made controlling conquered territories easier.
  • Umayyads abandoned the simple life of Caliphs.
  • Gave rise to a fundamental division in the Muslim community.

RUSSIAN EMPIRE.

500-1500 A.D

862 A.D-VIKING CHEIF RURIK FOUNDS NOVGOROD.

  • New trades routes would so be open.
  • Large medieval Russian city.

988 A.D-PRINCE VLADIMIR CHOOSES EASTERN CHRISTIANITY.

  • Built a number of pagan temples.
  • Renowned for his cruelty and treachery.
  • Also spread Christianity.
  • Sent envoys to examine the major religions.
  • Opted for Orthodoxy because of its beaitufl worship.

1100'S-MOSCOW FOUNDED.

  • Major political, economic, cultural city.
  • Capital city.
  • Most populous federal subject of Russia.
  • One of the fastest growing tourist destinations.
  • One of the worlds largest urban economies.

1242 A.D-KIEV FALLS TO THE MONGOLS.

  • The mongols attacked and demolished kiev.
  • "No eye remained to weep" a historian reported.
  • All the fall of keiv, mongols rulled all southern russia.

1480 A.D-IVAN III REFUSES TO PAY MONGOL TRIBUTE.

  • Russian and mongols arimes faced each other on either side.
  • However, niether side wanted to fight .
  • After a time, both armies turned around and marched home.
  • The mongols were not the only conquering people to emerge from Central Asia.
