  • Used to coat other metals to prevent corrosion
  • Used as roofing material
  • Used as fire protection on wooden doors and shutters

HISTORY

  • One of the oldest metals known by man
  • Brass, dated back to 3500 B.C. was made from copper with about 15% of tin
  • Originally was known as a plumbum candid or white lead in Latin.
  • Tin, nowawdays, is an absolute important element in the world economy and is used in a number of products

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

  • Resists corrosion
  • Reacts with halogens
  • Does not react with acid
  • Stable in both cold and boiling water
