STRATIFIED SQUAMOUS

  • Found in areas of the body which get a good deal of friction
  • Found in esophagous, mouth, and the outer portion of skin

  • Only found in the urinary bladder, ureters, and urethra
  • Highly modified stratified squamous tissue
  • These cells stretch when the bladder is full
  • When not stretched the membrane is stratified

  • Cells sit in lacunae
  • Protects the body and internal organs

HYALINE CARTILAGE

  • Glassy blue-white appearance
  • It forms the supporting strictures of larynx and voice box
  • Connects the ribs to the breastbone and covers the ends of bones
  • A fetus's skelton is mostly hyaline cartilage; but by the time its born its bone
