GIDEON VS. WAINWRIGHT
Gideon was charged with breaking and entering to steal a beer. Unfortunately, he was a poor man so he couldn't afford a lawyer and requested to have one appointed by the court. Gideon conducted his own defense and was found guilty of the charges. He then filed a handwritten petition, wanting to reverse his conviction. The state denied his petition .
