Three Places to Visit in Haiti.

Labadee, It is a private resort leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The resort is completely tourist-oriented, and is guarded by a private security force. Although most people describe it as an island Labadee is actually a peninsula contiguous with the island of Hispaniola.

Sans-Souci Palace, The Neves Palace
(New Palace) was constructed to commemorate the end of the 7 Years war. The king unfortunately was only allowed to enjoy the waterworks of the palace once before his death. The waterworks of the palace didn't work correctly until the 19th century.

Citadelle Laferriere, most of the offensive and defensive materials and weapons that were used during the colonization era are still present in the area. Renting a horse is advised so that people can take quality pictures and record movies without being tired of going up and down in between spots and places. Walking is not a good option since the citadel is an uphill spot.

Five geographical features of Haiti

Antilles, the Lesser Antilles comprises the British Virgin Islands, the US Virgin Islands, the Leeward Islands, and the Windward Islands, plus small islands of Venezuela. The Antilles are split in two, the Greater and Lesser Antilles. The Greater Antilles (the larger of the two groups) includes Cuba, Hispaniola,Jamaica,Puerto Rico, and the Cayman Islands.

Hispaniola, it was the site of the first European colonies in the Americas founded by Christopher Columbus in 1492 and 1493. This is the only island shared by two countries other than St. Martin. The Dominican Republic occupies 64 percent of this island, Haiti the other 36 percent.

Pic la Selle, it is 8,793 ft. above sea level. it is the highest peak in Haiti. The mountain is part of the Chaine de la Selle mountain.

Artibonite River, it is 320 km long river in Haiti. It is the longest as well as the most important river in Haiti and the longest on the island of Hispaniola. The river's sources are in the Cordillera Central in the Dominican Republic, however most of its length lies in Haiti.

Tortuga, it is 69 square miles in size. Tortuga had a population of 25,936 at the 2003 Census. Its tourist industry and reference in many works has made it one of the most recognized regions of Haiti.

Reasons I chose Haiti

  • I have always been fascinated with Haiti.
  • I love the beautiful landmarks and beaches.
  • I wanted to pick a country, that has less potential because of all the hurricanes that have hit it.
  • I love that even though Haiti has been through so much destruction, there is still all lot of love there.
