  • Idea heard in early rome. Known as the "aeolipie"
  • 1698- Thomas Savery introduced first industrial engine.
  • James Watt introduced the low pressure engine.
  • Ivan Polzunov introduces the two-cylinder engine.
  • 1772 Thomas Newcomen invents first practical engine.

FACTORY ACT OF 1802

REFORM BILL OF 1832

RESPONSE TO POPULAR AGITATION

The reform bill of 1832 gave the parliamentary vote to most middle class men. Extended the right to vote to all males owning land.

FACTORY ACT OF 1833

  • No child workers under the age of nine
  • Children are not to work at night
  • Two hours schooling each day
  • Four Factory inspectors are in place to make sure the laws are in action.

This act provided a safer work environment for all child labors. It was one of the first big steps for the rights of children during the industrial revolution.

FACTORY ACT OF 1802

The act was introduced by Sir Robert Peel. Requires cotton mills to properly ventilated. They could not work at night. They were to be provided with clothing.

TEN HOUR ACT OF 1847

  • Saturdays only 8 hours.
  • Sundays were off.
  • Act was oassed by Lord Ashely and John Fielden.
