UNT

  • UNT was founded in 1890
  • UNT was the first school in the country to have a jazz program
  • UNT had been named one of Americas 100 best college buys 17 years in a row
  • Has the first all vegan college cafeteria in the country
  • UNT has 400 student organizations

UNT TRADITIONS

  • A spirit bell is used to rally fans at football games by running it across the feild
  • On homecoming Friday's a giant bonfire made of wooden pallets it lit which has been a tradition since the 1930s

Q: My hobby/non-major interest is playing music. Are there any clubs/groups etc near campus?

A: "Yes. I suggest the one o'clock jazz band. It's hard to get into, but there are plenty of other music opportunities." - Kerry Lee Clark

UNT SOCIAL/ACADEMIC LIFE

  • The social Greek community is four councils that oversee 39 fraternities and sororities
  • The University Union features entertainment spaces, banking, a campus bookstore, student lounges, meeting rooms, and many dining options
  • There are 97 bachelor degrees, 88 masters degrees, and 40 doctoral degrees offered at UNT

  • UT was established in 1883
  • UT has the seventh largest library in the country
  • UT Austin is consistently ranked as one of the top public universities in the country

UT traditions

  • The UT tower has orange lights shining on it when there is a victory in any UT sporting event
  • Students will sing the school song "The Eyes of Texas" during football games

A: "There's lots of friendly and helpful students. UT students are always there for each other. It's basically one big community." - Stephen Tracy

  • Portland state university has community partnerships with Intel, Oregon Health & Science University, the Portland Public School system, the City of Portland, and Portland General Electric.
  • Portland state university was established to meet the demand for a higher education for WWII veterans
  • The university tries its best to make the buildings environmentally sustainable and has been named one of the most Eco-friendly universities in the country
