WHY?

WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT THEM?

• The Articles was our first government
• If we didnt have this, we wouldnt have learned from our mistakes
• What the Articles did wrong, Congress used to make the Constitution do right
• The good points of the Articles helped show what the US needed

WHAT "GOOD POINTS"?

• Created the Land Ordinance of 1785
• Created the North West Ordinance
• Gave the United States its name, the USA
• Gave Congress ability to declare war, have foreign relations, handle currency
• Brought the states together and formed respect for each other, laws and rules.

IT SET PRECEDENTS

• The Articles had many points used in the Constitution later;
• The gov ability to declare war
• Borrow money
• Conduct diplomacy with other countries

SHOWED US WHAT NOT TO DO

• Allowed us to take the mistakes and learn from them, for ex;
• Constitution allowed us to raise troops when AOC did not
• Constitution allowed us to tax when AOC did not
• Constitution allowed us to regulate economy and money when AOC did not
