WAVERLY HILLS SANATORIUM

WAVERLY HILL PROPERTY

• Opened in 1883 as a one-room schoolhouse
• In 1912 the hospital opened
• A new building was opened in 1926
• Waverly Hills Sanatorium closed in 1961
• A nursing home opened in 1962 and closed in 1982

HISTORY

• The estimated death toll is 63,000 people
• Tina and Charlie Mattingly bought the property in 2001
• They offer tours and haunted houses every year

ROOM 502

• Nurse was hung outside of room 502
• Another nurse was "pushed" from the window
• Visitors will experience screams, women voices,
• and feel as if they were being pushed towards the window,
• and doors slamming.

GHOST OF TIMMY

• He was a six or seven year-old boy
• He died with tuberculosis
• Visitors bring toy balls for him
• Timmy can be heard bouncing his ball
• in the halls and down the stairs

THE BODY CHUTE

• A tunnel leading to the train tracks at the bottom of the hill
• Used for transporting patients and supplies
• Eventually used for removing the dead bodies from the hospital
• Visitors hear voices, footsteps, and see shadows
• There is an abundance of EVP's (Electronic voice phenomena)
