#3: THE PLAGUE

  • It killed many people hurting Rome
  • Made them very weak as a whole which started the collapse
  • Reduced the number of people working which hurt economy
  • This caused a decrease in agriculture and trade.
  • Reduced the number of soldiers which over all led to growth of barbarians

#2: POLITICAL INSTABILITY

  • In 50 years the had 22 emporers, each ending in violent deaths
  • While there was a struggle for power, many things has to keep changing
  • This caused there to be an unstable foundation for Rome to flourish
  • While switching from emperor to another, it created disunity
  • This ruined the sense of political trust and civic unity which kept the collapse going

#1: OVER EXANSION

  • This is the most important because no matter what, Rome couldn't handle the size
  • They could not maintain a solid structure
  • Rome bad so many types of people and it became to hard ro find unity
  • There was no way to administer an empire of this size at this point in time
  • Overall, over expansion was the most important cause the empires to collapse
