HISTORY

  • Invented in 723 A.D.
  • First one was 30 feet tall
  • Powered by water
  • Astronomical clock
  • Built from bronze and iron
  • Musical clock (puppets)
  • 1st one ran for 36 years

IMPORTANCE

  • Then: they could now tell time without sundial
  • Now: still tell time with clocks
  • Never been without clocks to tell time

IMPACT

  • Without clocks we'd tell time by the sky
  • Late or early for things
  • Couldn't time precisely
  • Train systems & flights= unorganized

CHANGES

  • Ran by water now by batteries
  • Now digital clocks
  • All different sizes (smaller)
  • Set time manually
  • Not astronomical
  • More precise times
  • Everyone has them now

PERSPECTIVE CHANGED

  • Smarter than expected
  • Thankful
  • Respect
