THE EMERGENT LAYER

THE CANOPY LAYER

  • It’s the second highest layer so it gets 95% of the sunlight
  • The upper leaves in the canopy layer are also waxy so they can stay moist
  • The canopy layer is 60-130ft off the ground

THE UNDERSTORY LAYER

  • It is the third highest layer so it only gets 2-15% of the sunlight

THE FOREST FLOOR
