SMART GOALS

  • Specific: state exactly what is to be
  • Measurable: include how the goal can be measured.
  • Realistic: Do not set goals for something
  • Time Bound: State when the goal will be met.
  • I want to get my varsity letter from basketball. My goal can be measured like in next school year. The steps I'm determine to do to reach my goal is to practice over summer break 3 days a week. My goal will be met next basketball season.

SHORT TERMS VS. LONG TERM GOALS

  • Short-term goals: Can be accomplished in 1 year
  • Long-term: Can be accomplished in more than 1 year.
  • I have a short-term goal that can be accomplished in 1 year because basketball season restart every school year .

NEEDS VS WANTS

  • Needs: an item that is necessary for life
  • Wants: something that is unnecessary to life, but desired .
  • Personal wants and Needs
  • Wants: new phone,games
  • Needs: food ,water, home

  • Definition: identify the issue , list 3 possible ways to solve the problem, evaluate pors/cons of decisions, choose the best option and act on it, evaluate the results
  • Example:
  • Identify the issue : My brothers were fighting over the game
  • 3 possible solutions:
  • Turn the game off
  • Take the game
  • Stop them from playing it
  • Pros:
  • 1. Them having fun
  • 2. Them doing something
  • 3. Sometimes getting along

  • Evaluate : stop them from playing because they keep arguing and fighting about the game

  • Definition: how you see yourself
  • As I see my self: I'm a good athlete.
  • My actions: really good defense and fast
  • As other see me: they see me as being a winner
  • Other reactions to me: "nice", " good job"
  • As I see myself : I think I can be a better athlete

  • I read books on my phone or listen to music to forget everything, I'll be excite to go to practice

  • Definition:a person uses to deal with stressful situations

  • Verbal definition: use of words, spoken or written
  • Nonverbal definition: body language, eye contact
  • Example: When the teacher is talking I make eye contact or write down notes.

  • Destructive definition: blaming, endless fight , interrupting
  • Constructive definition: "I" message, clarity, timing
  • Example: I feel angry when you call my name when I'm listening to music because I don't want to be bother I would like if you leave me alone .

  • Definition:a juicy detail of some sort, which means the information is shocking or personal.
  • Example: this helps me because when I hear it from people I know makes me think I don't need them around me

RELATIONSHIPS

Unhealthy RELATIONSHIPS

  • Definition: sexual abuse , physical abuse .
  • Example: sexual abuse - Bragging about your sexual relationship,rape,
  • Physical abuse- hitting, grabbing, slapping,shoving

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP

  • Definition: Trust & support , respect
  • Example : being supportive ,paying attention to your partner,listening to what your partner has to say.

  • Definition:male and female in a committed relationship.
  • Example : someone to hang out with our some people just doing it for fun sometimes somebody just to talk to.

  • What I learned in this class that the information will help me my future. Communication will help me better when telling people to leave me alone. The topic I gain the most from was goal setting ,wants, needs. The least useful was crisis management. The things I can take away from this class and apply to my life is communication because I think I can do better at talking to people.
