BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Third Crusade was from 1189–1192. It is also known as The Kings' Crusade (this is often many people's favorite crusade). It was an attempt by European leaders to reconquer the Holy Land from Saladin. The campaign was successful by capturing the important cities of Acre and Jaffa and they reversed most of Saladin's conquests, but it did not capture Jerusalem.
