PRESENTATION OUTLINE

"TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD" BOOK AND MOVIE DIFFERENCES

EMMA MCEVOY #11

DIFFERENCE ONE

•The director chooses to eliminate the character of Aunt Alexandra completely.
- I feel the director did this because he felt her character was not important and did not want to cast someone to portray her role.

DIFFERENCE TWO

• The director chooses to add event where Bob Ewell approaches Jem while he is at the Robinson's with his father, Atticus.
- I feel the director added this scene to really show Bob Ewell's character and how bad of a person he was.

DIFFERENCE THREE

• The director chooses to eliminate scene where Burris Ewell disrespects his teacher and makes her cry.
- I feel the director took out this scene because he wanted to focus on Bob Ewell and Mayella, rather than the other Ewell children.

DIFFERENCE FOUR

• The director chooses to add scene where Mayella breaks down during Tom's trial and tries to run out.
- I feel the director added this scene to emphasize the fact that the Ewells were not telling the truth in their testimonies.

DIFFERENCE FIVE

• The director eliminates the character of Dolphus Raymond.
- I feel the director eliminated this character because he felt that Dolphus Raymond was not essential to the plot of the movie. Also, I feel the director did not have enough money to cast someone to play Dolphus.

THANK YOU!
