HAZARDOUS WASTE AND NON-HAZARDOUS

Hazardous Waste

  • Hazardous waste is waste that has substantial or potential threats to public health of dangerous goods.
  • They usually have one or more of the following hazardous traits, ignitability, reactivity, corrostivity
  • waste that may be harmful to health or the environment. The residues from industrial shredders are contaminated by operating fluids, many of which are classified as hazardous waste.

Causes

  • Hazardous waste is generated from many sources, ranging from industrial manufacturing process wastes to batteries and may come in many forms, including liquids, solid gases, and sludges

WHAT ARE THE EXAMPLES OF HAZARDOUS WASTE?

  • antifreeze
  • batteries
  • brake fluid
  • chemical strippers
  • chlorine bleach
  • contact cement
  • drain cleaners
  • fire extinguishers

What is the most hazardous waste.

  • The most dangerous hazardous waste is the " waste created by nuclear powerr plants and nuclear weapon facilities " Although industry creates a large amount of hazardous waste is the United States and other industrial countries, this waste is highly regulated and controlled.

Hazardous Waste

  • A hazardous waste is waste with properties that make it dangerous ir capable of having a harmful effect on human health or the environment.
  • Hazardous waste that is improperly managed poses a serious threat to human health and the environment. The resource Consevation and Recovery Act or ( RCRA) ,passed in 1976, was established to set up a framework for the proper management of hazardous waste.

Non-Hazardous Waste

  • Non-Hazardous waste is any type of industrial waste which, according to a dumpster or sewage line. Examples of non-hazardous wastes would be sugars, lactic acid, bromides, or carbonates, just to name a few
  • non-hazardouse include general household waste like a food or bathroom rubbish amd recycling, and business wastes including any that come from industrial
  • Waste can be offensive but not hazardous

Non-Hazardous Waste

  • This can include healthcare waste that is soiled but poses no threat to human or environment health.
