TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD

CHARACTERISTICS OF SCOUT

• Scout is a girl and has a tomboy attitude
• She also asks lots of questions
• Scout is not afraid to stand up to a fight
• Scout is one of the main antagonists in to kill a mocking bird
• Scout has a great respect for her father

Scout has many moments in the book but I have decided to choose the burning of miss Maudie's house during this scout is woken early in the morning by Atticus who tells her she needs to get out of the house Scout does not know what is going on until she realises someone's house is on fire scout is told by Atticus to stand outside the Radley house as scout and her brother watch on they notice men are pushing the old fire truck which has been killed by the cold when the men attached the hose to the hydrant it explodes

The men try to take the furniture from miss Maurice's house but one man Mr avery gets caught upstairs by the fire he tried to clime down from one of the poles from the upstairs porch but he falls and hits straight into the ground a fire truck from a town further away arrives and helps put out the fire
The fire spreads to scouts house but it is put out by the fire men after Atticus asks scout where she got that blanket from when scout realises she has one jem has a rant about how boo Radley put it on her when she wasn't looking and tells Atticus everything about how they went to boo radleys hose but Atticus waves them away and says nothing

The reason I think this part of the story is important is the way boo shows affection towards the children this could mean boo has a nicer side to him or he is trying to gain the children's trust
